and Board Member of JS Bilingual Section.

Majuri Sangphairoj is the Director of Studies of NELC and Board Member of JS Bilingual Section.

She joined the EDBA thirty years ago after studying for a Dip. Ed. followed by a B.A. in English and Anthropology at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok.

An EDBA / DAAD scholarship sent her to Germany for 3 1/2 years where she took a degree in Social Pedagogics at the Catholic Teacher Training College of Cologne. In 2000 she studied School Management and Development Training at the Education Department of Victoria, and on a further stay in Australia in 2002 she studied TESOL Methodology at the University of Melbourne.

Well travelled throughout Europe and Asia and fluent in English and German with a good command of French, Majuri fully understands the needs to bring education in Thailand into line with the requirements of the 21st century.

She is an adviser on teaching methodology and author (together with Chris Carter-Smith) of a series of English Language textbooks in use in Thai schools.

Many past and present administrators of the Joseph Upatham School group are her former students. Majuri says she has a "large family of small and big kids to look after: nearly seven thousand students and over forty foreign teachers."
