The Location of the NELC and Joseph Upatham School

The campus main entrance is situated directly opposite the the famous Samprahn Elephant Ground. There are a number of ways to get here.
 

The map on the right shows the limits of the Bangkok city area. The blue line is the Chayo Praya River. The upper red line is the new highway to Nakhon Pathom, the lower red line is the Petchkasaem Rd. They converge just after Sampran. Banglamphu is the area where Kao San Rd. is located. Pathumwan is the central district of Bangkok's downtown area with Siam Square. The airport shown is Don Muang from which all domestic flights operate - about 55 minutes from the school. The new airport is further away to the east of the city on the expressway to Pattaya & Rayong.

  • No.123 white and blue bus.
    From: Sanam Luang (opposite Thamassat University) near Kao San Rd. Say "Rongrian Joseph" - the school is at the end of the route.Via Pinklao, Taling Chan, Sai 2 Rd, Petchkaseam Rd., Bang Kae. 7 baht. Duration: 45-60 mins.

  • No.157 blue-grey air-con bus.
    From: Northern BusTerminal (Mo Chit), Via Pahonyothin Rd (Lad Phrao), Victory Monument, Democracy Monument (Banglamphu), Arun Amarin Rd, Petchkasaem Rd, Bang Kae. Say "Rongrian Joseph" the school is at the end of the route. About 18 Baht. 90-100 mins from Mo Chit.

  • No.12 white-mauve microbus.
    From: Northern Busterminal (Mo Chit), Via Downtown (Prathunam / Petchburi Rd, Pathumwan / Siam Square, Silom, Sathorn, Bangkae / Petchkasaem Rd). Say "Rongrian Joseph" and the bus will stop in front of the school. 20 Baht. 100-120 mins from Mo Chit, 60-90 mins from downtown.

  • Van to Om Yai.
    Starts from outside Pata Department Store (Pinklao), just over the bridge from Banglamphu, to the end of the line at the 7/11 store, 100 metres from the school. Say 'Rongrian Joseph' to be sure to get on the right van. 30 Baht. 30-40 mins.

  • Taxi:

    • From downtown 35-45 mins. approx. 300 Baht.
    • From Banglamphu 30-40 mins, approx 250 Baht.

  • Transport from the new airport Suvarnabhumi
    Flights from this airport began in Sept. 2006. Details of exact Taxi fares will be published soon. The official state operated bus costs 150 Baht to Kao San Road, Banglamphu from where you can get other transport (see this page) to the school. If 2 or 3 people team up for a taxi it may well work out cheaper.

  • By car :
    Quickest way out of BKK centre: New Petchburi Rd - Param (Rama) 8 Bridge direction Putthamonton, stay on ramp for Pinklao overhead freeway to end (see Ben's map). Turn off Nakhon Pathom Highway at Puttamonton into Sai 4 (Salaya), 8 kms to Petchkasem Rd intersection - turn right along Petchkasem (direction Nakhon Pathom) to Om Noi, Om Yai and watch for signs for the Sampran Elephant Ground. Past elephant gd. entrance, 1st U-turn into campus gate #1 (Ban Phu Wan).

  • From Nakhon Pathom
    Any overland busses (red+white 2nd class,and blue+white 1st class) from the town centre going to Bangkok via Sampran, Om Noi and Om Yai. The drivers know 'Rongrian Joseph' and will stop in front of the school. About 30 mins. 20-25 Baht. Bus # 84 most frequent. Starts from the parallel road to the train station and market. Go out of the station, straight ahead, cross over the canal and turn right.
