Baan Phu Waan Pastoral Training Centre
Baan Phu Waan is a major venue for high profile international Catholic conferences.
Thailand had been selected by the Vatican as the site for holding the "Sixth World Conference on the Pastoral Care of Tourism". Some 200 bishops from around the globe did participate in the conference held in Ban Phu Wan, on the campus of Joseph Upatham School in the Sampran District of Nakhon Pathom, during July 5-8, 2005. The theme of the conference was:
"Tourism Aimed at Bringing Peoples Together"
The conference takes place every five years; the conference before was held in Turkey. Thailand is the second venue in Asia for such conference. The conference is organized by the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People, Vatican, to focus on tourism which can create good understanding among tourists and hosts.
Baan Phu Waan is the principle centre for Catholic seminars and conferences in Asia.
